Een bezoek aan Dover Castle, en Canterbury Cathedral. 2 gebouwen die in de ontwikkeling van Engeland een belangrijke rol hebben gespeeld, het ene militair, zelfs tot na de 2e wereldoorlog, het andere religieus, vanaf de 6e eeuw tot nu! Vorige jaar werd de kroon op het hoofd van Charles III geplaatst door de aartsbisschop van Canterbury!
En natuurlijk 3 dagen Londen. Te weinig om de stad te leren kennen, hopelijk voldoende om er lekker aan te kunnen snuffelen! Want zoals de schrijver Samuel Johnson in de late 18e eeuw al zei: “a man who’s tired of London is tired of life”. Daar is 250 jaar later nog niets aan veranderd! Zoveel te beleven, zoveel te zien, ik neem je graag mee op ontdekking in een verrassende mix van bekend en onbekend.

De reis duurt 5 dagen. Vertrek op woensdagochtend met dezelfde dag nog een bezoek aan het kasteel van Dover. Varend of treinend naar Engeland, krijg je als het ware een uur cadeau, een welkom cadeau op deze eerste dag! (Engeland ligt in een andere tijdzone)
Terug gaan we op zondag, in de loop van de avond, om ook van deze laatste dag optimaal te kunnen genieten, zelfs met inlevering van het cadeau-uur…

Iedereen kan deelnemen aan de reis, maar interesse in (oudere) architectuur en geschiedenis komt natuurlijk wel van pas.
In een ontspannen en toegankelijke verteltrant maak ik de architectuur begrijpelijk en laat je met andere ogen naar de gebouwen kijken. Wie al eens met mij mee geweest is, of mijn lezingen heeft bijgewoond weet hoe dat gaat.
Het maximale aantal deelnemers is 8. De reis gaat door bij minimaal 3 deelnemers
Door het kleine aantal deelnemers kan iedereen aan de gesprekken en discussies mee doen, en vragen stellen.
Het is wel handig als je wat vlot ter been bent. We zullen per slot van rekening wel 3 dagen door Londen trekken. The “Tube” zullen we zeker gebruiken maar als we toch wat vermoeid raken, dan kun je hier en daar enkele pubs ontdekken om even lekker bij te komen😉.

Op mijn eigen wijze, bekend of niet, neem ik je mee op ontdekking. Ik vertel je over de geschiedenis van de gebouwen, laat je de architectuur ontdekken, met een grap en een anekdote op zijn tijd.
Ik breng je naar de gebouwen en ben ook je chauffeur. Ik beschik inmiddels over ruime rij-ervaring in Engeland. Links rijden moeilijk? Ach hooguit de eerste 2-3 minuten, daarna weet je niet beter…

Samen gaan we ontspannen en volkomen vrij op stap, met een eigen gehuurd busje. Alle tijd en ruimte voor een stop hier of daar. Voor iedereen individuele aandacht en gelegenheid om vragen te stellen. Een aanvullende programma wens? Die proberen we in te passen, mijzelf kennende: er is overal een oplossing voor!
Na een korte boottocht vanuit Calais of Duinkerken zijn er nog slechts kleine verplaatsingen. Alle tijd dus om van alles te ontdekken.
